When weight lifting, lift as heavy as possible
Contrary to some schools of thought, more repititions at lower weights is not better for losing weight. Most trainers agree that by lifting heavy you increase muscle mass and thus metabolism. An additional benefit is that some studies show heavy lifting helps promote bone density. (Of course this does not mean you should hurt yourself by going beyond what your current fitness level allows for.)
